National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of National Importance’.

Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, popularly known as CIMAP, is a frontier plant research laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR) was established in March 1991 as part of Centenary celebrations of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and its foundation stone was laid by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sh. Chander Shekhar Ji on 31 st March 1991.The mandate of the Centre is postgraduate education and research in Biomedical Sciences.

Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological education and in engineering, basic and applied research.

The CSIR, established in 1942 with Corporate Office at New Delhi, and a network of 38 national laboratories spread over the country is a premier R & D Organisation in India providing S & T inputs to a diverse spectrum of economic, industrial and societal sectors. The R & D activities covers fields from aerospace engineering to ocean sciences, molecular biology to metallurgy, chemicals to mining, food to petroleum & leather to environment.
