R. C. Patel Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Formerly known as R.C. Patel College of Pharmacy established in June 1992 with the aim to enhance the quality education in the field of Pharmacy and empower the quality pharmacist so that they serve the society to develop lifesaving drugs. Right from its establishment the institute has maintained the quality with assurance in terms of Accreditation from National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi (NBA) twice on 2005 and 2009 for the B. Pharm course.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" with proclaimed objectives of becoming Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER-Mohali was the first institute established in the year 1998 under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Govt. of India. Later, the DOP established 6 new NIPERs across the country including NIPER-Hyderabad which started functioning from 19th October 2007, from the premises of erstwhile R&D Centre of IDPL, Balanagar, Hyderabad.

The NIPER-Guwahati started functioning from the month of September, 2008. The Institute is presently located at its permanent campus at Changsari-781101, Dist. Kamrup, Assam. The Institute has excellent facilities for advanced Education and Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Presently the Institute is offering M.S (Pharm.) and Ph. D. Programmes in five different branches namely Pharmacology & Toxicology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practices, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Pharmaceutics.
