Anna University was established on 4th September, 1978 as a unitary type of University. This University was named after Late Dr.C.N.Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is an autonomous Institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. NABI aims at catalysing the transformation of the Agri-food sector in India by being a nodal organization for knowledge generation and translational science leading to value-added products based on Agri-Food biotech innovations for improved household nutritional security.

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani, is an all-India Institute for higher education. National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) Kalyani is an Institute of Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology. The Institute has created necessary physical infrastructure and critical platform technologies to support research, translation, and training in biomedical genomics.

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat in association with Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has established a NIDHI-TBI (Technology Business Incubator) named ASHINE (Association for Harnessing Innovation and Entrepreneurship). ASHINE, which is a section 8 (not-for-profit) company, aims to promote entrepreneurial activity on SVNIT campus and commercialization of R&D efforts across all disciplines of Engineering and Technology including Energy, Environment and Manufacturing.

CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) – is amongst one of the constituent research institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. Originally set up as the National Botanic Gardens (NBG) by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.), it was taken over by the CSIR in 1953. CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). CSIR-NBRI undertakes basic and applied research in important areas of plant sciences.
