  • The Indian drug regulators has withdrawn the alert on avastin which was imposed after off-label use of drug and recent cases of blindness. The office of DCG(I) was requested to take necessary measures to withdraw the Alert Notice issued on 21.01.2016 which was primarily issued as a precautionary measure in the light of the incidences of blindness reported in Gujarat.

  • Drugs Controller General India (DCGI) took strict measures on Roche's Avastin (Bevacizumab Injection) after some reports on loss of visions. It is noted that opthalmic injection of Avastin leads to blindness in some patients which is not approved for intra-vitrieal use in India as per DCGI.

  • The National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) here on Friday inked a deal with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to undertake cutting-edge research on enteric diseases including hepatitis C, and see through translation of research outputs for community outreach.
