    Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTech) is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers. In September, 1989, upon completion of the permanent campus, the Institute shifted to occupy an area of about 47 acres, of which the labs covered 22 acres and the residential campus 25 acres.

    CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow, a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the only institute of toxicology in the country contributing towards cutting-edge research and innovation in toxicology with the motto: “Safety to Environment and Health and Service to Industry”. CSIR-IITR has made an impact in addressing problems critical to human health & the environment as well as safety of chemicals/products. The institute has been involved in basic and applied research in diverse areas of toxicology and associated disciplines for over five decades. CSIR-IITR’s contributions in the field of toxicology have globally positioned CSIR among top five in Food, Industrial and Nanomaterial toxicology. The institute has received Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliance in June 2014 for toxicity and mutagenicity studies. GLP is an internationally accepted quality system under which pre-clinical health and environmental safety studies are performed. CSIR-IITR has established a “Centre for Innovation and Translational Research (CITAR)” to encourage impactful societal, industrial research and enable start-ups to foster collaborations with researchers to fast track technological solutions. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentations and laboratories (NABL certified) such as Advanced Imaging Facility, Analytical Facility, Computational Toxicology Facility (the only facility for toxicology in India), Translational Research Facility, Cell & Molecular Biology Facility and Industrial Labs.

  • ICMR's Junior Research Fellowship - 150 fellowships

    The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions.

  • NIPER Joint Entrance Examination 2019 - for Masters and PhD

    The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) created as a Centre of Excellence for imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences and management is the first Institute of its kind in the country. The Institute was declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on 26th June 1998. The Institute is a member of the Association of Indian Universities.

    The University of Calcutta was established by an Act of the Legislative Council (Act No II of 1857) of the then British India. A supplementary Act empowering the University to confer some additional degrees was passed in 1860. Another Act was passed in 1884 by which the University was authorised to confer honorary Degree of Law.The University Act of 1904 empowered the University to make necessary arrangements for the instruction of students, and though most of the teaching continued to be imparted in the affiliated colleges, teaching in some of the higher branches began to be organised under the University management.

    Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehra Dun made a humble beginning as Forest School established in 1878. Initially named as Imperial Forest Research Institute, FRI came into being in 1906.  Later renamed as Forest Research Institute and Colleges, with a number of centres located at different places all over the country administering research as well as training of Forest Officers and Forest Rangers.  After reorganization of Forestry Research in the country and creation of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in 1988, the training and research centres were given an independent status of institutes. Forest Research Institute, now one of the institutes under ICFRE, was conferred the status of Deemed University in December 1991 on the recommendations of the UGC, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
