The Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy (VMCP), Salem, established in the year 1982 is the pioneer institution of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. It plays a vital role in the field of Pharmacy education and caters to the needs of society by meeting the ever-increasing demand for pharmacists in India and abroad. The college that started with the Diploma in Pharmacy program now also offers B.Pharm (from 1993), M.Pharm (from 2003) in 5 specializations, Pharm.D, Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) (from 2009) and the Doctoral Program in Pharmacy (from 2004). The college is a constituent college of Vinayaka Missions University, Salem and is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. Several hundreds of students have graduated from the college successfully and are practicing the profession of Pharmacy across the globe and serving the community at large.

 SNDT Women’s University is the first Women’s university in India as well as in South-East Asia. The University was founded by Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve in 1916 for a noble cause of Women’s Education. The first five women graduated in 1921 from this University. The University Headquarters is in Churchgate Campus, Mumbai and the other two campuses of this University are at Juhu, Mumbai and Karve Road, Pune.

Shivaji University, established in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was inaugurated on 18th November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. One of the major objectives behind foundation of this University was to cater to the regional needs of South Maharashtra. The jurisdiction of the University is spread over three districts viz. Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara with strength of about 2,00,000 students studying in 225 affiliated colleges and recognised institutes.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) is an Institute of National importance established by an Act of Parliament under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals,Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute has excellent facilities for advanced education and research in pharmaceutical sciences and is looking for teaching and non- teaching staff of high degree of knowledge and willing to contribute in building this institute as one of the best centres of excellence. Presently the Institute is running M.S (Pharm.) and Ph.D Programmes and planning to expand further.
