Central Drugs Testing Laboratory, Mumbai is statutory laboratory working under administrative control of Drugs Controller General (I), CDSCO, DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is the Central Drug Authority for discharging functions assigned to the Central Government under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. CDSCO has six zonal offices, four sub-zonal offices, 13 port offices and seven laboratories under its control.

The contractual period may be reduced or extended at the sole discretion of the management (CDSCO-HQ). During the contract period the service can be terminated without any notice or without assigning any reasons whatsoever.

The MET Institute of Pharmacy was established in the year 1993 with the two-year Diploma programme in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education. The four-year Bachelor's programme in Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) affiliated to the Mumbai University was started in the year 1994. B.Pharm is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world. As early as in 1911, the Government of India set up the Indian Research Fund Association (IRFA) with the specific objective of sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country. After independence, several important changes were made in the organisation and the activities of the IRFA. It was redesignated in 1949 as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with considerably expanded scope of functions.
