The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Panjab University is a premier institution of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in the country. The institute has covered a long and glorious journey of 76 years starting from Lahore in 1944 and finally settling to the present campus in Chandigarh at the foothills of Himachal. In its travelogue, the institute crossed multiple milestones and continue to head ahead towards the well-defined goals.

The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of National Importance’.

Abstract
The first and the second generation type of dosage forms had been found to have lower efficacy of drug reaching to the targeted tissue this lead to need for third generation drug delivery system which contains the liposomes, microspheres, microcapsules, nanodiamonds etc. with these type of drug delivery system it had been found to have better patient compliance and reduced side effects. The present paper  deals with the same as there is first formation of Metformin double emulsion and then precipitation of the drug from the polymeric solution. In this study challenge was to encapsulate Metformin with high entrapment efficiency by w/o/o double emulsion solvent diffusion technique using non-aqueous processing media. The primary requirement of this method to obtain microsphere is that selected solvent for polymer must be immiscible with non aqueous processing media, so to fulfill the requirement.

Government of Haryana has set up a new Medical College at Khanpur Kalan in district Sonepat. It is a Government College for girls. The M.C.I. has given permission to admit 100 girls’ students for the academic year 2012-13 and the batch has already been started. The College is strategically located between two National Highways, GT road on eastern side and highway 71A from Rewari to Chandigarh on the western side, in green and naturally beautiful 100 acres land in absolutely pollution free area.
