The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (Punjab) has been established through the Central Universities Act 2009 which received the assent of the President of India on 20th March 2009. Its territorial jurisdiction extends to the whole State of Punjab. This newly set up Central University of Punjab (CUP) at Bathinda is poised to write new alphabet on the academic horizon of India. The Tata Memorial Hospital was initially commissioned by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust on 28 February 1941 as a center with enduring value and a mission for concern for the Indian people. In 1952 the Indian Cancer Research Centre was established as a pioneer research institute for basic research - later called the Cancer Research Institute (CRI). In 1957 the Ministry of Health took over the Tata Memorial Hospital. The transfer of the administrative control of the Tata Memorial Centre (Tata Memorial Hospital & Cancer Research Institute) to the Department of Atomic Energy in 1962 was the next major milestone. The Tata Memorial Hospital and Cancer Research Institute merged as the two arms of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) in 1966 as a classic example of private philanthropy augmented by Government support with a mandate for Service, Education & Research in Cancer.

Malabar Cancer Centre, Thalassery (MCC) is an autonomous institution under Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, started with an aim to establish a comprehensive cancer centre, providing the much-required oncology care to the population of Northern region of Kerala and neighbouring parts of Karnataka and Tamilnadu states. The main objective of the centre is not only to provide comprehensive cancer care but also to develop as a Research and Training Centre of international standards.

Siddha Central Research Institute (SCRI) is the pioneer institute for research established in the year 1971 to spin in all spheres of Siddha Research such as Clinical Research, Drug Development and Literary research.  It is governed by Institutional Human Ethics Commitee, Institutional Animal Ethics Commitee and having adequate infrastructure and various departments like Clinical research, Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmacology, Literary research and Pharmacy. This institute is located in the campus of Arignar Anna Government Hospital of Indian Systems of medicine at Arumbakkam, Chennai.  This institute is instrumental in getting the Patent for Psoriasis and is a referral centre for Psoraisis. Recently this institute has published a patent for Poly herbal drug D5 Chooranam useful for newly detected Type 2 Diabetes.

Health and Family Welfare programme is being implemented in the state to sustain the achievement of the previous years and to reach new goals. NRHM is working in a task mode to achieve goals set-in for the state and effectively deal with the challenges. NRHM has set the strategic direction that encompasses year wise objectives, technical strategies; inter-ventions include program and services for improving maternal health, child health, family planning, adolescents' health etc. RCH –II has been bifurcated into core programmatic strategies and cross cutting program strategies for taking effective actions. The institutional and other strategies have impact on all the components of RCH viz. maternal health, child health, family planning, adolescent health and sex selection etc whereas specific core program strategies have wider impact on the specific program component. It has been built that all these strategies would converge and go hand in hand to achieve the program outcome.
