ICMR–National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), Gorakhpur is one of the prestigious research organizations working under the aegis of Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The Centre intends to engage Consultants and Young Professionals–II, purely on temporary & contractual basis to support research and institutional activities of the Centre.

Post : Young Professional-II (Scientific)

Essential Qualifications : Post-graduates in Life Sciences / Pharmacy / Statistics / Social works/ Sociology / BAMS, BSMS, and MD in AYUSH with at least 55% marks with three (03) Years post qualification experience in related field.

Monthly Consolidated remuneration : 42,000/-

Age Limit (Age relaxation as per rules) : The maximum age limit for YP-II will be 35 years

General Terms & Conditions
1) All the positions will be governed as per the revised ICMR’s guidelines for engaging Consultant / Young Professionals (No. 16/84/2023- Admn II/ e-file-171470 dated 08/05/2026).
2) The contract of consultant/YPs are of a temporary nature and can be terminated anytime without any prior notice and without providing any reason for it. However in normal course, termination of contract may be done by giving not less than one month notice on either side at anytime without assigning any reason.
3) The initial term of engagement of consultant shall be for not more than one year and subsequent extension, if any, can be considered, on case to case basis, depending upon the job requirement and the frame for its completion, subject to fulfillment of performance evaluation made by the competent authority, but should not be more than Five (5) Years. In all cases, the duration of engagement of any Consultant shall not be more than 05 years or till attaining the age of 70 Years whichever is earlier.
4) Initial engagement of YPs will be for one year which is extendable for two more years (01 year at a time) subject to requirement of the services of the Consultant/ Young Professional in the organization, and satisfactory performance of the candidate after evaluation by the Competent Authority of the Centre. Thus, maximum duration of engagement is three years (1+1+1) in any case.
5) Cut-off date for age limit will be the last date of submission of application. Age relaxation will be as per the guidelines of ICMR. Candidates meeting the age criteria and possessing the required qualifications and experience, may appear for interview with the prescribed application form. All related educational documents, latest photograph/experience certificates, should be enclosed/brought failing which application shall be rejected.
6) Selection of Candidates will be based on the educational qualifications, relevant experience and performance in the interview. 7) Candidates have to submit the duly self –attested copies of proof of their age, educational qualifications, experiences, testimonials etc. at the time of joining, if selected.
8) Allotment of duties to the successful candidates will be decided by the competent authority at its discretion.
9) Qualification & experience should be in relevant discipline/field and from an Institution of repute. Experience should have been gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification. Mere fulfilling the essential qualification does not guarantee the selection.
10) The appointees would not be permitted to take up any other remunerative or honorary assignment either part time or fulltime during the engagement period.

11) The candidate shall be paid a fixed consolidated monthly remuneration, based on an explicit certificate from the Head on the satisfactory performance and attendance. The amount of remuneration so fixed shall remain unchanged for the term of contract. No other allowance shall be admissible.
12) Persons already in regular time scale service under any Government Department/ Organizations are not eligible to apply. Engagement of retired personal shall not be considered as re-employment case.
13) No TA/DA will be paid to attend interview / personal discussion and candidates have to arrange transport/accommodation themselves.
14) The ICMR–NIHR , Gorakhpur reserves the right to consider or reject any application/candidature without assigning any reason thereof and no correspondence/recommendation will be entertained in this matter.
15) Submission of wrong or false information during the process of selection shall disqualify the candidature at any stage.
16) Leave shall be as per the ICMR’s guidelines for engaging Consultant / Young Professionals.
17) All applicable taxes as per Govt. rules and regulations will be deducted at source.
18) The individual’s consultant/YPs shall be engaged purely on contractual and temporary basis and will not be regarded for any purpose as being either an employee or official of council/institute/centre. Further, he or she shall have no right to claim of further extension beyond contractual engagement or regularization of service in ICMR or its any institute/center or Govt. of India in any case. Council/ICMR institute and the individual shall use their best efforts to amicably settle disputes, controversy or claim, arising out of the contractual duration.
19) The ICMR-NIHR , Gorakhpur reserves the right to cancel/modify the process at any time, at its discretion and reserves the right to terminate the candidate even during the agreed contract period or extended contract period without assigning any reason.
20) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. The decision of the Competent Authority will be final and binding.

The shortlisted candidate shall be called for interview as scheduled, also those candidate should be present with 02 set photocopy of all documents and with original documents. and suitable candidate may be selected on the basis of qualifications, experience and performance in the interview.

Only those fulfilling the required eligibility criteria—pertaining to qualifications, age, experience, etc.—and whose original documents are verified by ICMR-NIHR, Gorakhpur will be eligible to participate in the interview.

Document Verification will be done between 09.00 to 11.00 am. No candidate will be entertained after 11.00 am.
Venue : The interview will be held at ICMR–National Institute of Health research , Gorakhpur, BRD Medical College Campus, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh–273013.
