Tezpur University was established by an Act of Parliament in  1994.

Assam University came into existence through Assam (Central) University Act, 1989. It was established in 1994,since then  the University is steadily becoming  an excellent centre of learning.
The campus, situated in Dargakona, about 20 kms from  Silchar, is set amid sprawling hillocks, a typical landscape in the North East. The campus  in an area of  600 acres surrounded by lakes and mountains provides  an ideal environment for academic pursuit.

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals working in any of the North-Eastern States of India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura) for the award of Biotechnology Overseas Associateship (2013-2014) under the special programme for the northeast states for conducting research or training in overseas research laboratories in different areas of biotechnology such as (i) agriculture and plant biotechnology; (ii) medical biotechnology and human health; (iii) animal and vete

National Institute Of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) , an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), Silchar. NIT Silchar is situated on the banks of river Barak. In the year 2002, it was upgraded to the status of an NIT from a Regional Engineering College(REC).

Walk in interview for filling up the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) is scheduled to be held on 25th July, 2013 in the Dept. of Agricultural Biotechnology, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat at 10:00 AM. The post is purely temporary and will be terminated on completion of the project.
