Pharm. courses in the specializations of Pharmaceutics and Drug Regulatory Affairs from the academic year 2011-12 onwards

It is my privilege and honour to share my views on the website of PGIMS, Rohtak that our prestigious Institute Pt. B.D. Sharma, PGIMS, Rohtak has glorious and illustrious history. It has grown leaps and bounds since then to become the epicentre for patient care from across Haryana as well as neighbouring States. In its nascent stage, Medical College was started as guest Institute in 1960 at Medical College, Patiala. Due to high demand for medical education and a deficient patient care services in the southern part of Haryana which was the then part of Punjab, it was shifted to Rohtak in 1963 during the tenure of Sardar Partap Singh Kairon who was then Chief Minister of Punjab. From a small guest institute to a mammoth and prestigious Institute in the country, it has been on a constant growth path and has never looked back since then.

PESIMSR is a well established Medical College with an attached 750 Bed Hospital containing state-of-the-art facilities providing wonderful work experience and training opportunities.  India, the world’s biggest democracy, ranks eleventh in the world in terms of the size of its economy with the GNP equivalent to US$471 billion, but ranks 162nd in the world in terms ofGNP per capita (US$460).  India is now going through an epidemiological transition, where infectious diseases are receding as causes of adult morbidity and mortality, whereas non-infectious diseases are assuming menacing proportions. The risk factors associated with changing lifestyle have increased the mortality rate because of coronary heart diseases, diabetes, hypertension and neurological disorders.

The Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities was established as a trust in the year 1980 with its official address at Museum road, Governorpet, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – 520 002 and started KL College of Engineering in the Academic year 1980-81. The trust was converted into a Society by the name Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation in the year 1996. The KL College of Engineering has attained autonomous status in the year 2006 and in February 2009, the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation Society was recognized as Deemed to be University. In short Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation is named as K L University.
