Applications are invited for the award of one Junior Research Fellow on a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 12 000/ - pm (as per University rules), in the DBT funded Program Mode Support project entitled “Cloning and Functional Validation of Drought Responsive Genes from Eleusine coracana”. The post is tenable for two years or till the completion of the project, whichever is earlier. The appointment shall be given on a six monthly work review basis.

National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

Madurai Kamaraj University, established in 1966, has 18 Schools comprising 73 Departments. The Directorate of Distance Education of the University has a student strength of about 1.30 lakhs. The University has 109 affiliated Colleges (9 Autonomous) including other approved institutions and 7 evening colleges. There are centres which promote research potential of teachers.
