ANOVA Video Lecture Series for Pharma Professionals (Research Methodology)

Clinical courses

Analysis of variance is abbreviated as ANOVA. ANOVA is developed by R.A. Fisher in 1920 for determination of variance between different groups. ANOVA is used for comparison of more than two population or population having more than two subgroups.
ANOVA is defined as the ratio of variability between the means and variability within the distribution.

ANOVA is generally classified into two categories:

One Way ANOVA
It is classified according to only one factor or one criterion

Two Way ANOVA
It is classified according to two factors or two criterions.

In this Video Series you can find the introduction and basics of ANOVA along with some numerical problems.

Part 1: This video contains History, Introduction and basics of ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), Details about variances, Assumptions of ANOVA, Classification of ANOVA etc.

Part 2: This video contains steps involved to solve the problem related to “One Way ANOVA” which includes formula for calculation.

Part 3: This video contains solution of the question related to “One Way ANOVA”
Que: To assess the significance of possible variation in performance in a certain test between the convent schools of a city, a common test was given to a number of students taken at random from the fifth class of the 3 schools concerned. the results given below:

A    | B    | C.
9    |13    |14
11  |12    |13
13  |10    |17
9    |15    |7
8    |5      |9

Make the analysis of variance for the given data.

Part 4 :
This video contains solution of the question related to “One Way ANOVA”
The three samples below have been obtained from normal populations with equal variances. Test the hypothesis that the sample means are equal.

A      | B   | C
8      | 8   | 17
10    | 6   |10
7      |11  |12
14    |8    |12
11    | 8   |15
16    |13  |12

Part 5: This video contains steps involved to solve the problem related to “Two Way ANOVA” which includes formula for calculation.

Part 6: This video contains solution of the question related to “Two Way ANOVA”
Que : The following data represents the number of units of tablet production (in thousands) per day by five different technicians by using four different type of machines.

Workers | A     | B      | C      | D
P           |54    | 48
| 57     | 46
Q          | 56   | 50   | 62
| 53
R          | 44    | 46   | 54    | 42
S          | 53    | 48   | 56    | 44
T          | 48    | 52   | 59    | 48

(a) Test whether the mean productivity of the different machines are same?
(b) Test whether the 5 technicians differ with respect to the mean productivity?

Part 7: This video contains solution of the question related to “Two Way ANOVA”
Que: To study the performance of three detergents and three different water temperature, the following whiteness readinggs were obtained with specially designed equipment.

Water Temp    | A    | B       | C
Cold Water    | 47    | 45    | 50
Warm Water  | 39    | 42    | 52
Hot Water     | 44     | 36    | 48
Perform a two way ANOVA, using 5% level of significance.
