In observance of the 6th National Pharmacovigilance Week 2026, the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Saveetha College of Pharmacy, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Chennai, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association – Hospital Pharmacy Division (IPA-HPD), organized a series of awareness and educational programmes from September 17 to 23, 2026.
The 6th National Pharmacoigilance Week 2026 programmes was convened by Dr. Ramaiyan Velmurugan, Professor and Proncipal, Saveetha College of Pharmacy, SIMATS, Chennai, and Dr. Mohanraj Rathinavelu, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Saveetha College of Pharmacy, SIMATS, Chennai, and Executive Committee Member, IPA Hospital Pharmacy Division; and coordinated by Dr. Ekambaram Bhavya, Dr. Gopinath Sambasivam, Dr. Saranya Punniyakoti, and Dr. Dorcas Catherine Pinky and PharmD students of Department of Pharmacy Practice, Saveetha College of Pharmacy, SIMATS, Chennai.
The week-long programme featured a Pinnacle Webinar on Pharmacovigilance and Medication Safety 2026, Expert Talks and Training Sessions, Seminar and Workshop, Walkathon, Debate, and Painting and Drawing Competitions. The initiatives aimed to strengthen awareness among healthcare professionals and students regarding safe and rational medicine use, in alignment with the theme, “Promoting Rational Use of Medicines through Pharmacovigilance – A Step Towards Safer Healthcare.”
