Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre has discovered the genome sequence of corona virus which will now facilitate corona vaccine and drug preparation. Gujarat is also succeeded in making ventilators in Rajkot to fight the corona virus in Gujarat and later succeeded in making PPE suits.

The official Twitter page of the Gujarat CM office has been officially announced this information through CMO Gujarat.

CMO said that Gujarat is proud of scientists at Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC), the only State Govt laboratory in India that has reported COVID19 whole genome sequence which will be helpful in tracking origin, drug targets, vaccine & association with virulence.

Biotechnology has become one of the emerging and exponentially growing field with a multidisciplinary nature, which integrates various branches of interdisciplinary sciences. The advancement of modern life sciences into various disciplines of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, such as Genomics, systems biology, synthetic biology, nanobiotechnology has open many opportunities not only for skilled human resources but also for developing products, processes and prototypes to tackle societal challenges.

Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) was established by the Department of Science and Technology in August 2017. GBRC works to promote research and development in the biotechnology field.
