One day National Conference sponsored partly by Gujarat Council of Science & Technology (GUJCOST) was organised by Bhagwan Mahavir College of Pharmacy, Surat, on the theme of “Emerging Trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Regulatory Affairs” at the college campus on 6th February, 2016. About 182 students from various pharmacy colleges, delegates from industry and faculty from various pharmacy colleges are participated in the conference.

Dr. S. M. Vijayendra Swamy, Director & Principal of the host institute, Convenor of the conference welcomed the guests and delegates. The aim of the conference is to disseminate innovative ideas in the new and emerging technologies in pharmaceutical sciences.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp in presence of the chief guest Dr. S. S. Agrawal, Vice Chancellor, DIPSAR University,New Delhi, Guest of Honour Dr. S. H. Ansari, Professor & HOD, Jamia Hamdard University,Delhi, Mr. Anil Jain, Secretary & Managing Trustee, BMEF, Dr. Sanjay Jain, Managing Trustee, BMEF, Dr. Harshita Jain, Managing Trustee, BMEF, Dr. Vijayendra Swamy, Director, Bhagwan Mahavir College of Pharmacy, Surat.

Dr. S. S. Agrawal, addressed the gathering on the topic of “Need for Pharmaceutical and Research University in India”. Eminent speakers Dr. S. H. Ansari, discussed the “Declining Standards of Pharmacy Education in India- Strategies for Improvement” and Mr. Krutarth Kothari, Team leader, Dept. of Regulatory Affairs, Gowrie Research Pvt Ltd. Vadodara, explained the “Recent Trends for Europe Submission”.

Poster presentation competition will be organized and 60 posters will be displayed related to the theme of the conference. Ms. Kesha Desai, Asst. Professor, Mrs. Dhiti Marfatiya, Asst. Professor, anchored the programme. Dr. Zarna Dedania, Associate Professor & co-ordinator of the conference presented the report of the scientific sessions and proposed vote of thanks.
