REPORT OF CONTINUING EDUCATION-CUM-TRAINING PROGRAM

 

Clinical courses

A Continuing Education-cum-Training Program on Current trends in Pharmacy Practice was organized by Department of Pharmacy Practice, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy Moga, (Pb) from January 15, 2015 to January 17, 2015.

The Program was organized in joint collaboration with Punjab State Pharmacy Council, Chandigarh, Indian Hospital Pharmacists Association and University Centre of Excellence for Research, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

The training program was inaugurated on 15.01.2015 by Hon. Mr. Parveen Kumar Bharadwaj, Registrar State Pharmacy Council, Chandigarh, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics & Head Department of Pharmacology, Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana, Mr. Vir Vikram Sharma, Cheif Pharmacist & Head, Pharmacy DMC Ludhiana, Chairman Mr. Parveen Garg,

Dr. Ashish Baldi, Principal I.S.F.College of Pharmacy, Dr. R. K. Narang, Program Convener and Head Department of Pharmacy Practice I.S.F.C.P. Moga

A total of 165 participants attended the training program from various institutes where the PharmD course is running.

The program was inaugurated by traditional lamp lightning by the dignitaries, followed by Ishvandana from the students.

Inaugural speech was given by Mr. Parveen Kumar Bhardwaj, Registrar, Punjab State Pharmacy Council, Chandigarh. During his speech, he was much concerned about the Drug Addiction in youth of Punjab and all the students along with faculty members took the pledge not to get involved in drug addiction.

After his speech and Oath ceremony, scientific session was started with the lecture of Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics and Head Department of Pharmacology, DMC, Ludhiana. He spoke about the Pharmacovigilance and the role of Clinical Pharmacist in reporting of Adverse Drug Reaction.

Next lecture was taken by Mr. Vir Vikram Sharma, Head, Pharmacy, DMC Ludhiana. In his talk he discussed and shared his views on Good Pharmacy Practice in a tertiary care hospital.

On January 16, 2015 the day was started with a scientific session in which first lecture was taken by Ms. Srujna, Lead Scientist, Augur Global Safety Services, Bangalore. In her talk she emphasized on the Adverse drug reporting and Indian Scenario.

The next lecture was taken by Dr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor from Department of Pharmacy Practice, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy, Moga on Importance of Ward Round participation for the Pharmacy Practice Students.

After his interactive session there was an orientation program organized at Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Medical College, Faridkot where the participants were engaged and oriented with the Ward Round participation activities.

On January 17, 2015 the third day of the conference was started with the Lecture of Dr. Ravinder Garg, Associate Professor in Medicine from Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Medical College. In his interactive session he discussed about the various aspects of Clinical Pharmacy Services and role of Clinical Pharmacist along with the Physician. He emphasized on making Clinical Pharmacist as an important part of healthcare team.

Next lecture was being taken by Dr. Parveen Bansal, Joint Director, University Center of Excellence and Research, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab. He addressed the gathering with the topic of “Importance of HbA1Cin Diabetes Mellitus”.

The last lecture of the plenary session was taken by Prof. N.K. Jain, Director, I.S.F. College of Pharmacy, Moga. He delivered his lecture on the “Targeted Drug Delivery System and its importance in the Clinical Field”.

On last day of workshop there was a Case Presentation competition for PharmD students held in the college premises in which many students participated and presented their clinical cases in front of the judges. Out of all the case presentation first three case presentations were shared in front of all the participants of the conference and discussed.

Valedictory session was started with the lamp lightening ceremony by the invited chief guest Dr. S.L. Nasa President, State Pharmacy Council, Delhi& President Indian Hospital Pharmacist Association, Guest of honor Dr. Parveen Bansal, Joint Director, UCER, BFUHS, Faridkot, Dr. Saranjeet Singh, Professor at NIPER, Mohali, Sh. Parveen Garg, Chairman, ISFCP, Moga, Prof. N.K. Jain, Director, ISFCP Moga, Prof. AshishBaldi, Principal ISFCP, Moga, Dr. R. K. Narang, Head Department of Pharmacy Practice

Dr. S.L.Nasa, Registrar, State Pharmacy Council Delhi & President, Indian Hospital Pharmacist Association, in his address enlightened the audience with critical professional issues. During valedictory session prizes and certificates were awarded to the candidates.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. AshishBaldi, Principal, ISFCP, Moga.

Valedictory session was ended with Indian National Anthem.
