Global Hospital use dual laser technology to treat prostate or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) patients.

ThuLEP (Thulium Laser Enucleation of Prostate) is India’s first dual laser technology for prostrate treatment and only available in Global Hospital, Parel, Mumbai. ThuLEP, the new German laser combines two lasers Thulium and Raman into one. Thulium lasers are effective and are more powerful, so prostate tissue can be efficiently vaporized. In the last two months, the hospital has treated 10 patients with the help of new laser technology.

ThuLEP is an almost a bloodless procedure. The patient gets discharged within 24 to 48 hours and the high risk patients can successfully be treated with the new machine. The technology can be used on patients using anti-coagulants and suffering from cardio pulmonary issues.  ThuLEP is versatile and hence can be used to treat prostates of all types of sizes including the ones more than 100gm. ThuLEP allows real time wavelength modulation for both cutting mode (Thulium) and coagulating mode (Raman) without changing fiber unlike other lasers. Both the lasers are connected with a machine.

Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate (HoLEP) replaced the earlier traditional Transurethral. In the HoLEP technology, for the past 10 years the surgeons used to enucleate the prostate gland tissue, leaving just the capsule in place. The surgeon then used to push the excised prostate gland tissue into the bladder and then used a morcellation device to grind up and remove the tissue, which was vulnerable to huge blood loss.
