In order to bring interventions from various backgrounds under a single umbrella, a group of top neurosurgeons has come together to form India's first dedicated society for therapeutic neurointerventions.

Neurovascular intervention is a branch in which minimally invasive procedures of blood vessels of brain and spine are performed through endovascular (inside the blood vessel) route.

The body, called Society of Therapeutic Neurointerventions, will hold its first conference in Gurgaon from December 4-6.

"The theme of this first conference of our society is to take neuronintervention to new heights by discussing evidence based medicine and practical aspect of neurointerventional procedures," said Vipul Gupta, head of neurointerventional surgery at Medanta Medicity hospital, Gurgaon.

The conference aims at bringing together the professionals and the aspiring neurointervention surgeons together so that they can discuss and learn from each other.

The three-day conference is expected to have over 200 doctors from across the globe, and will focus on various dilemmas in the field of neurovascular disorders. IANS
