The year was 1993 when T. John College with its premises in Campbell Road, Austin Town, Bangalore began functioning. The college started by Dr. Thomas P. John offered a 3 year BHM Degree course to 24 students. Since a humble beginning in 1993, there has been no looking back. And every year the college crosses new milestones. National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) was founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in the year 1918 as ‘Beri-Beri’ Enquiry Unit in a single room laboratory at the Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Within a short span of seven years, this unit blossomed into a "Deficiency Disease Enquiry" and later in 1928, emerged as full-fledged "Nutrition Research Laboratories" (NRL) with Dr. McCarrison as its first Director. It was shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, is one of the oldest medical research bodies in the world.

Acharya Institutes, established in 1990, comprises of 11 Educational Institutions, 7 Research Centres and 6 exclusive hostels for Boys/Girls in a sprawling 120-acre campus nestled in a green environment in the outskirts of Bangalore city.
