Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the Vaccine Research Formulation Development group in developing and characterizing formulations of new antigens proteins/polysaccharide conjugates, adjuvants.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include preformulation, formulation development of preliminary processes that are amenable to scale up. The individual will develop formulations and preliminary processes for use in non human primate studies and toxicological studies under required guidelines.
The candidate should be knowledgeable and experienced in the development of vaccine formulations based on biochemical, and biophysical analyses, followed by stability studies using a design based approaches.   The individual should have experience in freeze drying, analytical methods such as HPLC, CD, DSC, fluorescence etc. needed for developing and characterization of formulations.  Understanding of immunology would be beneficial.


The candidate must have the ability to independently conduct experiments, document and communicate results effectively. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to prioritize assignments, be flexible and work effectively in a team environment. Good organizational, oral and written communication and time management skills are also valuable.    

Candidate Profile:
Education & Experience:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline plus at least 1- 2 years of related experience.
- B.S. with at least 10 years experience or MS with at least 8 years of related experience.


Technical Competencies:
- Analytical methods such as HPLC, biophysical methodologies, freeze drying a plus
- Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is desirable
- Analytical procedures used for the characterization of macromolecules, ability to analyze, interpret, and present scientific data
