Ayurveda is an ancient wellness and healing system that originated in the Indian subcontinent over 5,000 years ago. Its name is derived from two Sanskrit words, Ayur (life) and Veda (science) and it literally means ‘the science of life’.  Almora harnesses the knowledge of Ayurveda and combines it with modern science to create products that replenish body and spirit. We call this ‘Contemporary Ayurveda.’  The science and practice of Ayurveda are narrated in ancient texts, of which Charaka Samhita is the principal resource. This was written in the Indus Valley around 1500 BC in Sanskrit, by the great sage Charaka. Sage Charaka himself suggested that Ayurveda needed to evolve with time. He wanted Ayurveda to be an inclusive science that evolved and adapted by considering and adopting valid new information and discoveries.
