Job Description:
The qualified candidate will join the analytical R&D organization and will contribute to the development of biological therapeutic candidates.  Within analytical R&D the candidate will join the Biotherapeutics Mass Spectrometry (BMS)  group.  The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing methods of analysis for characterization of proteins, peptides, vaccines, and oligonucleotides.  The candidate will be responsible for utilizing the following techniques to confirm the intended structure of drug candidates:  mass spectrometry, HPLC, proteolytic mapping, electrophoresis, and biophysical techniques.  The generation and isolation of product variants is also a key element of the job to enable assessment of biological activity, confirmation of site(s) of modification, and confirmation of variant detection by orthogonal methods.  The above skills will be applied to a large platform of projects in all stages of development.

Candidate Profile:
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
BS or MS in analytical biochemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field
Biology, statistical analysis, quantitative analysis highly desired


WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
MINIMUM: 0-5 years (M.S.) or 0-10 years (B.S.) industrial experience analyzing protein structure using mass spectrometry and applying a broad range of analytical techniques to the analysis of proteins and other biomolecules.
Good communication and writing skills are essential due to the highly matrixed project-team environment in Pfizer.
Proven record of technical writing sufficient for regulatory filings and understanding of the drug development process for Biotherapeutic candidates.
Experience with analytical development for testing of biotherapeutic molecules, vaccines, and other complex biomolecular entities.  Good knowledge and application of statistical analysis.
Experience with vaccine development is a plus.
