Established in 1984, the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTech) is one among the chain of 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 outreach centres of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Set-up to be a fore-runner in the niche domain of microbial biotechnology, the Institute in its initial years functioned from a start-up laboratory that provided a truly world-class R&D ambience in an area of over 10,000 sq. ft. to its researchers. In September, 1989, upon completion of the permanent campus, the Institute shifted to occupy an area of about 47 acres, of which the labs covered 22 acres and the residential campus 25 acres.

Project Associate-I = 01
Essential Qualification : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Sciences / MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent
Desirable : Candidates having hands-on experience of techniques such as basic microbiological experiments, bacteriophages, protein purification and characterization, ELISA/immunodiagnostic assays, Nanoparticle synthesis, etc. Preference will be given to candiates having experience of working in research laboratory.
Upper Age limit (years) - 35
Monthly Emoluments : (i) Rs. 31,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through a (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 25,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above
Project Associate-II = 01
Essential Qualification : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Sciences/ MVSc or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent, and
(ii) Two years research experience in Research and Development in industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
Desirable : Hands on experience of techniques such as, Nanoparticles/nanomaterials synthesis, characterization, conjugation chemistry, bacteriophages. Knowledge of electrochemical techniques and handling of clinical samples. Candidates having industrial exposure (of electrochemical testing/diagnostic industries, LFIA prototyping) will be preferred.

Monthly Emoluments : (i) Rs. 35,000/- +HRA to Scholars who are selected through a (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies and Institutions. (ii) Rs. 28,000/- +HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above
Senior Project Associate = 02
Essential Qualification : Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
(ii) 4 years experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services. OR Doctoral Degree in Science/ Engineering/ Technology/ Pharma / MD/ MS from a recognized University or equivalent
Desirable : Highly motivates candidates having 4 years experience in immunoassays, food microbiology, food safety standards, bacterial enrichment methods, food sample processing for food testing, bioassay designing, lateral flow immunoassay and collodial nonoparticle based assays.
