The PGIMER owes its inception to the vision of late Sardar Partap Singh Kairon, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and the distinguished medical educationists of the then combined state of Punjab, supported by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who considered the institutions of scientific knowledge as temples of learning and the places of pilgrimage. The institute started in 1962 and Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital now named “Nehru Hospital” on 7th July 1963. The Institute was originally under the Government of undivided Punjab.

Upper Age limit: 35 years as on (Relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH/Women candidate as per rules).
Remuneration: As per guidelines.
The engagement in the project is purely on temporary basis maximum for the period of duration of the project. However, appointment will initially be offered for a period of one year and will be extended on yearly basis depending upon satisfactory performance and co-terminus with the project. The appointment can be terminated by either side by giving one month’s notice OR stipend thereof. Total duration of appointment in project is maximum of 02 years. Therefore, if an incumbent switches between the projects, the appointment will terminate on the day he/she completes 02 years. Please note that it is not a PGIMER/DHR, N. Delhi appointment and will not confer any right on the incumbent to any claim implicit or explicit on any position.
