Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the seven Institutes of Technology created as centres of excellence for higher training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India, the others being at Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Bombay, Guwahati and Roorkee. Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963″ and was renamed “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then accorded the status of a deemed university with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.

Qualifications : Ph.D. in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology or any related area. Should know different computational analyses with focus on the sequencing data. Performing quality control, metagenomic genome assembly, annotation, related to antimicrobial resistance genes and mobile elements (plasmids and transposons). Should know existing state-of-the-art methodology and AMR databases. Should speak English fluently and have proven writing ability. Should be fluent in programming with “Python” and comfortable with performing analyses on a Linux-based operating system through the command line (“shell, bash”). Should be interested in learning a work-flow management system such as “Snakemake” or “Nextflow”. Should know basics of database and web tool management.
