Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research originated as École de Médicine de Pondichérry established by the French Government in the year 1823. This medical school was converted into Dhanvantari Medical College at the time of de facto transfer of Pondicherry to Government of India. This Medical College was later upgraded into Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).

Professor of Pharmacology-(01 UR)
Essential Qualification:
i. A Medical qualification included in the I or II Schedule or Part II of the third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (persons possessing qualifications included in part II or third schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in Section13 (3) of the Act.) ii. A Postgraduate qualification, i.e. M.D in Pharmacology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.
Experience:
Fourteen years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution in Pharmacology after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D in Pharmacology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.

FOR NON-MEDICAL CANDIDATES:
Essential Qualification:
i. Post Graduate Qualifications, i.e. Master’s Degree in Pharmacology or allied subjects.
ii. A Doctorate (Ph. D) Degree from a recognized University/institute.
Experience:14 years’ teaching and/or research experience in Pharmacology or subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree
Age Limit: Not exceeding 70 years as on closing date

Pharmacist(03 posts)
Essential Qualification:
i. Higher Secondary (10 +2) or equivalent in Science subjects from a recognized board or university
ii. Diploma in Pharmacy from an institute recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India.
iii. Registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.
Age Limit: 18 – 25 Years as on closing date
Consolidated Pay: 25,000/-

Assistant Professor of Pharmacology-(02 UR)
Essential Qualification:
i. A Medical qualification included in the I or II Schedule or Part II of the third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956 (persons possessing qualifications included in part II or third schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in Section13 (3) of the Act.)
ii. A Postgraduate qualification, i.e. M.D in Pharmacology or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto.
Experience:
Three years teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution in Pharmacology after obtaining the qualifying degree of M.D in Pharmacology or a qualification recognized equivalent thereto.
FOR NON-MEDICAL CANDIDATES:
Essential Qualification:
i. Post Graduate Qualifications, i.e. Master’s Degree in Pharmacology or allied subjects.
ii. A Doctorate (Ph. D) Degree from a recognized University/institute.
Experience:
3 years’ teaching and/or research experience in Pharmacology or subject concerned after obtaining the Doctorate Degree
Age Limit:
Not exceeding 50 years as on closing date

JUNIOR RESIDENTS (NPG) (Pharmacology)-(02 UR)
Essential Qualification:
i) A Registered Medical Graduate of a Recognized University
ii) Should have completed one year compulsory Internship.
Age Limit: No Upper Age Limit.
Consolidated Pay: ₹ 60,000/-
