Post : Junior Research Fellow (JRF)/ Senior research Fellow (SRF)

Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF)/Senior research Fellow (SRF) in a DST funded research project entitled “Synthesis and exploration of Polybenzoxazines (PBZs) resins as an alternative to traditional phenolic resin in friction materials- A possible breakthrough" DST SERB project (CRG/20l9/000107), under the supervision of Dr. Bimlesh Lochab , Department of Chemistry, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar University, Gautam Buddha Nagar, U.P. 201314.

Project Synopsis
The aim of the project is to synthesize and characterize new class of phenolic thermoset resin namely, Polybenzoxazines (PBzs) to overcome the shortcomings of conventional phenolic resins. The major objective is to synthesize and characterize monomers structurally and thermally and develop new formulations using high performance polybenzoxazine based polymers.  The developed formulations will be used  to fabricate brakepads and evaluate their strength and analysis of failure mechanisms using advanced techniques (in collaboration with IITD).

Nature of work
Development of new structures of monomers via designing, synthesis and characterization of monomers / nanomaterials for adhesives. Project involves organic synthesis, polymer synthesis and characterization etc.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications
• The candidate should have a Master’s degree (with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade) in Chemistry from a UGC recognized University.
• The candidate should have good analytical skills.
• Familiarity with organic/polymer synthesis will be preferred.
• Understanding of organic material characterisation techniques is desirable
• For JRF, candidates should be postgraduate in chemistry and preferably NET qualified. Other qualifications such as JEST/GATE will be preferred. Candidate without such qualifications will be hired at a salary based on the experience.
• For SRF, qualification prescribed for JRF with two years of research experience.

Duration of the Project : 1 Year

Fellowship : As per DST norms, fellowship is Rs 35,000/- p.m. and Rs. 31,000/- p. m. plus HRA for SRF and JRF position, respectively.

Eligible and interested candidates should send their application with a complete CV (having personal details, academic qualifications, research experience, publications, name, affiliation and email address of two referees). Also, send photocopies of marksheets/testimonials/certificates, a recent passport size photograph, and other relevant documents as PDF attachment via email (preferable) or hard copies by Speed Post to the below address.
