Research Fellowships for Pharma and Science candidates at National Chemical Laboratory

Research Associate-I
No. of Position : 1
Minimum prescribed educational Qualifications : Ph.D./MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Qualification/ experience, if any : 1) Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or allied disciplines, with hands-on experience in agrobiologicals, biopesticides, formulation development, or crop protection research.
2) Experience in bioassays, greenhouse/field evaluation, analytical and molecular biology techniques (HPLC/LC-MS/MS/qPCR), supported by publications in SCI-indexed journals and/or patents.

Age Limit* : 35
Job requirement : 1) The candidate will have to work on optimization of agrobiological formulation for field application, execute molecular biology related experiments including but not limited to gene expression profiling, HPLC, MS, data analysis and coordinate scientific activities.
2) Support project execution, documentation, report writing, publications, and coordination of field trials with collaborating institutes.
Consolidated emoluments per month : Rs. 58000/- + 30% HRA

Junior Research Fellowships(JRF)

Minimum prescribed educational Qualifications : Master’s degree in Life Sciences, or equivalent degrees in relevant fields from a recognized University / Institute OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following :
a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE
b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISC, IISER, NISER etc.
Desirable Qualification/ experience, if any : 1) M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Plant Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or allied disciplines with NET/GATE or equivalent qualification (as applicable).
2) Hands-on experience in microbiology, molecular biology, bioassays, plant-pathogen/insect interaction studies, or formulation development is desirable.
Age Limit* : 28
Job requirement : 1) Conduct laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments related to agrobiologicals, biopesticide formulation, and crop protection; assist in analytical and molecular biology studies (HPLC/MS/qPCR) and data analysis.
2) Support project execution, documentation, report writing, publications, and coordination of field trials with collaborating institutes.

Technical Assistant

Minimum prescribed educational Qualifications : Bsc/Three(3) years diploma in Engineering & Technology
Desirable Qualification/ experience, if any : B.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology in relevant discipline with hands-on experience or in depth knowledge in microbiology, analytical techniques, greenhouse experiments and laboratory operations.
Age Limit* : 50
Job requirement : Assist in laboratory experiments, bioassays, greenhouse and field trials, sample collection, data recording, maintenance of laboratory records, procurement and indent processing, project documentation, file management, inventory maintenance, and other project-related administrative and technical activities.
Consolidated emoluments per month : Rs. 20,000/- + 30% HRA

* The upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/women, and 3 year for OBC candidates.

The engagement will be coterminous with the tenure of sponsored project subject to satisfactory performance or conduct of the appointee, as the case may be. The engagement will be purely on temporary basis and shall not be CSIR/NCL appointment, temporary or otherwise and shall not entitle the appointee to any right/claim whatsoever, implicit or explicit, for his/her consideration against any CSIR-NCL post/fellowship.

The prescribed educational qualifications are a bare minimum and merely possessing of same will not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where number of applications received in response to this Notice of engagement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendation of the Screening Committee, the Project Leader may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to reasonable limits after taking into consideration qualifications and experience over and above the minimum qualifications prescribed in the Notice. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field on date of advertise.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear before the Selection Committee for an online interview. For online interview URL link will be provided to shortlisted candidate later via email on or before 10/08/2026.

Interview will be conducted on 12/08/2026 from 10:00 AM online through a suitable medium such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx etc.

No interview call letter will be issued separately. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer of engagement.
