The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis [Formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre (TRC)], a permanent institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), is an internationally recognized institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research. It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. Recently, an International Centre for Excellence in Research (ICER) in collaboration with NIH was established at the Centre.

Age Limit:
Relaxable up to 5 years for Government Servants, 10 years for PH Candidates, 3 years for OBC-Non Creamy Layer candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates, subject to production of proof of certificates and also for certain other categories in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard.
Other Details:
• The crucial date for determination of age will be the last date for receipt of applications as on 01.09.2014
• Graduation degrees should be obtained in Govt approved (10+2+3) pattern or equivalent from a recognized Board /University as per UGC Regulations.
• Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay band.
• Benefits of the new restructured defined contributory Pension System are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECD & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 01.01.2004.
• Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Departments / Public Sector Undertakings and Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel. Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the conditions that the original application through proper channel should reach us before the due date. Application received after the closing date will not be considered.
• Application forms may be downloaded from the websites www.icmr.nic.in, nirt.res.in and duly filled in forms in all aspects and signed by the applicant should be sent to the Office of The Director, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, No.1, Mayor Sathiyamoorthy Road, Chetpet, Chennai – 600 031 on or before the closing date along with copies of the certificates in support of date of birth (SSLC certificate), educational qualification (SSLC/HSc/degree/diploma/certificate), proof for all experience mentioned in application etc and a Demand Draft (DD) for Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) towards application fee (non refundable) in favor of “The Director, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, Chennai”.
• SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates (PH) and women candidates are exempted from the payment of application fee.
• ICMR employees are not exempted from the payment of Application fees, and fees should be enclosed as stated above.
• The candidates applying for more than one post should send separate application forms along with requisite certificates and a separate DD for each post.
• Applications sent by fax/e-mail etc will not be accepted.
• Late entries /Unsigned/ incomplete applications or applications not accompanied with Demand Draft & not accompanied with copies of supporting documents for proof of age (SSLC/HSC certificate), educational qualifications and experience are liable to be rejected without any intimation.
NOTE:
• Selection shall be by competitive test & interview.
• Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants may be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director, NIRT will be final in this regard.
• Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection / recruitment shall be treated as disqualification.
• The number of vacancies mentioned is only tentative and may vary. No enquiry in this regard will be entertained.
