Duration of the course: 4-semester. In the first two semesters emphasis is given on teaching physico-chemical aspects of Biology and include Principles of Molecular Genetics, Introductory Immunology, Principles of Microbiology, Concepts in Biochemistry, Marine Ecosystem and Principles of Oceanography; Biophysics and Bioinstrumentation; Cell and Developmental Biology, Bioinfomatics and Biostatistics or Aquaculture or Marine Pollution and Biodeterioration. In the later two semesters, specialized courses on Recombinant DNA Technology, Bioprocess Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology, Tissue Culture Technology, Marine Biotechnology and its potential, Applications of Genetic Engineering and IPR, Enzymology and Molecular Immunology are offered.

Independent research topics/projects are undertaken by the students as a part of the curriculum, which is covered in the third and fourth semesters.
