As is known, apart from being an indispensable item of food, salt is an important raw material for the manufacture of several heavy chemicals e.g. soda ash, caustic soda and chlorine. Besides, salt is used in food processing industries, such as fish curing, meat packing, dairy products and fruit and vegetable canning.

Pharmacopoeial Laboratory for Indian Medicine (PLIM) is a subordinate office  of  the  Ministry  of  Health  &  Family Welfare,  (Deptt.  of AYUSH),  Govt. of India.  This laboratory  is a Standards  Setting cum Drugs Testing Laboratory at National Level for  Indian Medicines which  include drugs of  Ayurveda,  Unani and  Siddha systems.

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is an autonomous body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The Council is an apex body in India for formulation, development and promotion of research in Ayurvedic system of medicine. Pharmacopoeia  Commission  for  Indian  Medicine  &  Homoeopathy  (PCIM&H) is an  autonomous  body  under  Ministry  of  AYUSH,  Govt.  of  India,  with  an  objective  to develop Pharmacopoeial Standards for Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathic drugs and to publish Ayurvedia, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India  for  the  promotion  of  Quality  and  Safety  of  ASU & H  Drugs.
