Job Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and designing mainly primary and sometimes secondary/ tertiary packaging solutions for formulations developed for new chemical entities as well as generic molecules. Packaging development, in general, will be for all kinds of solid and liquid dosage forms, e.g., tablets, solutions, suspensions, injectable formulations, topical solution and semi-solid formulations, prefilled syringes etc. The scope of work would typically include collaborations with
* formulation scientists for pre-formulation compatibility studies, designing stability studies for (i) screening and selection of packaging materials for developing stable drug products, (ii) identifying novel / new packaging technologies suitable for new drug products (registration and commercialization) as well as existing products (life cycle management and cost efficiencies), (iii) conducting and coordinating identified reference pack evaluations etc. The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing highly innovative and creative solutions for a diverse range of projects / drug products and create harmonization of the brands across all the countries.
* manufacturing and commercial teams for cost estimations for packaging, operational feasibility for new packaging materials/ technologies, transfer of packaging processes/ technologies to commercial manufacturing sites etc.
* marketing teams for primary and secondary/ tertiary pack configurations, artwork designing, product branding enhancement through packaging initiatives etc
* regulatory and quality teams for ensuring all aspects of packaging solutions offered are in line with global and region specific regulatory and quality expectations
Incumbent will also, as part of the project teams, collaborate with other functions of teams as project management, supply chain and clinical organization for timely delivery of project goals pertaining to packaging activities.
In order to deliver the role effectively, the incumbent will be expected to identify, select, authorize and/or manage relationship with vendors / suppliers for sourcing of packaging materials and packaging technologies. Other than the research activities the candidate will also be responsible for taking active participation in maintaining and delivering required documentation such as protocols, packaging development reports, SOPs, technical sections for regulatory submission etc. The ideal candidate will contribute across a broad portfolio and various disciplines (branding, marketing and Package design). The position would involve upto 20% travel depending on project needs.
The role also requires graphic design skills along with experience in printing and artwork management. Innovative research aptitude, effective communication, team work and self starting ability are essential.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in science with specialization PG diploma in packaging development
EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years packaging research experience in pharmaceutical R&D organization

* A high level of graphic design proficiency, including strong typographical skills and proficiency in tools commonly employed for graphic designing (e.g., Adobe Design Suite, Quark express, Corel draw); experience in 3D or motion graphics would be a plus
* Must be creative, independent and able to see a creative project from idea conceptualization through to final execution
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
OTHER ATTRIBUTES DESIRABLE
Experience of working as part of international teams, working with contract research organizations or Marketing / Commercial colleagues and familiarity of the Animal Health industry would be good. An exposure to graphic design, communication design, media design. This position need to have interface with functions like Marketing, R&D, regulatory and manufacturing locations. External interaction is primarily with Suppliers and different country teams.
