  • HC directed the government to re examine samples of J&J baby powder

    On Monday, the Mumbai High Court directed the Maharashtra government to re-examine samples of Johnson & Johnson baby powder produced in government or government approved labs.

    The division bench of Justices SV Gangapurwala and SG Dige asked additional government pleader Milind More to submit names of labs on November 16.

  • Odisha Pharmacy Council dissolved due to financial irregularities

    The state government has dissolved Odisha Pharmacy Council (OPC) and all the present council members have been debarred from attending any meetings of the council over alleged financial irregularities and improper management.

    The decision to dissolve OPC was taken based on the recommendations submitted by the enquiry committee headed by the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Government of Odisha. The Committee also recommended a fresh election.

  • Study unveils protein synthesis in red blood cells

    The process by which the mRNA codes for a particular protein is known as translation. It is the final step in which an mRNA carrying information from DNA synthesises proteins. It is a necessary process performed by almost all living cells, leaving erythrocytes (Reb Blood Cells or RBCs), which are believed to be the only exception. A research team led by Sandeep M Eswarappa, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, has identified that mature human RBCs can also make their proteins.

    Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has published the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) 2022 and Hon ble Union Health Minister released the 9th edition of IP 2022 in July, 2022 in Vigyan Bhawan. New Delhi.

    The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has directed all the State and Union Territory (UT) governments and State Pharmacy Council to immediately implement the Pharmacy Practice Regulations (PPR), 2015. In January 2015, PCI had already notified about the implementation of the PPR,2015.

    Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today chaired a meeting with public health experts and officials to review the COVID19 pandemic situation in the country, status of vaccination drive and the Global scenario of new variants of Covid-19.Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health) NITI Aayog was also present during the meeting.

  • Indian Immunologicals to invest Rs 700 Crores to set up animal vaccine plant

    Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) announced that the company will invest about Rs 700 Crores to set up a new animal vaccine manufacturing facility in Genome Valley, Hyderabad.

    The IIL, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), is already one of the world’s largest FMD vaccine manufacturers. It is also the leading vaccine supplier to the Government of India’s National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP).

  • Government constitute Committee on affordable medicines and health products

    Government constitutes a committee on affordable medicines and health products to address the issues of pharma industries giving temptation for prescribing medicines.

    The committee is chaired by Niti ayog and contains five members which includes, Chief Economic Adviser, Ministry of Finance; Secretary, Department of Health Research; Vice-Chairperson, NLEM Joint; Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion; and Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

    Sitagliptin, a new variant of medicines for diabetes, launched at affordable prices for all under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana. PMBI included new variants of medicines Sitagliptin and its combination in its all Jan Aushdhi Kendras.

    Sitagliptin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. All these variants are available at 60% to 70% lesser prices than branded variants.
