  • Drugs Controller General India (DCGI) took strict measures on Roche's Avastin (Bevacizumab Injection) after some reports on loss of visions. It is noted that opthalmic injection of Avastin leads to blindness in some patients which is not approved for intra-vitrieal use in India as per DCGI.

  • The National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED) here on Friday inked a deal with the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to undertake cutting-edge research on enteric diseases including hepatitis C, and see through translation of research outputs for community outreach.

  • For security purposes and to avoid spam health ministry decided that the applicants have to pre-register themselves on online licensing portal - the “SUGAM”. This portal is intended for those who desire to file applications for various services rendered by Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).

  • Conventional drug seller may breathe sigh of relief as sale of drugs over Internet contravening the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 as per notice by Joint drugs Controller. Drug authorities are requested to put a strict vigil on online sale of medicines and take action against those indulging in online sale of medicines in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules.

  • With increasing cases of cancer across the country, the medical fraternity and policy planners face the challenge of mitigating and preventing the dreaded disease, President Pranab Mukherjee said here on Wednesday.
