Sangali

Shivaji University, established in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was inaugurated on 18th November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. One of the major objectives behind foundation of this University was to cater to the regional needs of South Maharashtra. The jurisdiction of the University is spread over three districts viz. Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara with strength of about 2,00,000 students studying in 225 affiliated colleges and recognised institutes.

About the College
Rajarambapu College of Pharmacy is a pioneer college catering pharmacy educational needs of the students and society. The college is conducting D. Pharm, B. Pharm and M. Pharm courses (Pharmaceutics, Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Chemistry) and Ph D. The college has qualified and experienced staff, well developed library & spacious laboratories. The RCP is approved by DTE, AICTE and PCI. The college is recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12(b) and permanently affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

The zilha Parishad of Sangali, The establishment of the Zilla Parishad could be regarded as the culmination point in the achievement of the goal of Local Self-Government. Prior to that, local autonomy was enjoyed in different degrees at the district, taluka and village levels. The Local Self-Governing units were provided by the District Local Board and the village panchayats.

The Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad City Municipal Corporation is the local self-government body which looks after the development of the Sangli-Miraj twin cities. This is the largest municipal corporation in South Maharashtra and serves a population of 0.65 million.
