  • Opportunity to work as Junior Research Fellow in RGCB

    The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a "Grant-in-Aid" institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minster of India. On April 18, 1994 the Government of Kerala took a landmark decision to restructure the institute into a comprehensive biotechnology center and thus was created the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology.

    The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, is a constituent Laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Initially established in 1975 as a CSIR Complex, it was named as the Regional Research Laboratory in 1978 and later renamed as NIIST in 2007.Its mandate is to conduct research and development activities of the highest quality in areas related to effective utilization of resources of the region and of fundamental importance to the country. Currently NIIST is engaged in R & D programmes in areas related to Agroprocessing, Chemical Sciences ,Materials Science and Technology.

    Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) invites applications for the following positions in its Joint Research Program with Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS), a new constituent institute of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), in Chemical Biology laboratory incubated at the RGCB-Bio Innovation Center at Kazhakuttom, Thiruvananthapuram until SRIBS permanent infrastructure gets ready at Pampady in Kottayam District of Kerala, under an agreement with RGCB. These positions are for Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute for Basic Sciences (SRIBS). At the end of the planned five year period, when the SRIBS buildings and laboratories is fully established, SRIBS will notify and transfer the research program and the personnel to its campus at Kottayam. This appointment to the joint research program being hosted at RGCB will be governed by SRIBS, KSCSTE Rules.

  • National Eligibility Test - 2017 for Pharmacy graduates

    CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test Tentatively on Sunday 18th June, 2017 for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

  • Job for Distinguished Scientist and Chair in Translational Biotechnology at RGCB | Emolument of Rs 1,50,000 per month

    A major mandate of RGCB is to translate research into products and solutions to improve human health through innovation that transforms science and data into actionable medical benefits. RGCB is looking for a dynamic, result-oriented and dedicated Program Leader to provide daily supervision, mentorship and direction to RGCB’s translational biotechnology goals including leading the newly sanctioned DST funded National Facility For Drug Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics (NFDDDT) as well as the Biotechnology Technology & Business Development Incubator (BioNest) jointly managed by RGCB and the Kerala Start up mission. The position has both managerial and technical leadership responsibilities. Managerial leadership responsibilities include direct staff supervision, validation, compliance consulting, and project delivery responsibilities. Technical leadership responsibilities revolve around provision of suitable strategic plans and protocol to lead drug development and drug repositioning studies. RGCB has also a strong base in discovery and evaluation of natural compounds that have to be taken forward for preclinical and clinical evaluation.
