National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. DRDE provides excellent opportunity to young and motivated researchers to pursue a research work in chemical and life sciences. The core competence of DRDE includes: synthesis, evaluation and process development for toxicants and antidotes; detection and analysis of chemicals at trace levels; development of sensors for chemical and bioloqlca agents; toxicity studies and safety evaluation of chemicals in vitro and in vivo; recombinant DNA and hybridoma technology for detection and prophylaxis against infectious agents; development of immune-based detection systems and kits for chemical and biological agents; development of vector management systems; bioremediation of organic waste at low temperature.
