The establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at New Delhi in 1956 was a dream project of first Prime Minister of India, Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru  and this was executed by first Health Minister of India Mrs.

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt, of India. The institute is an integral part of the interdisciplinary NCR Biotech Science Cluster located at Faridabad, and is designed as a dynamic, interactive organization with the mission to conduct innovative translational research and to develop research collaborations across disciplines and professions to translate concepts into products to improve human health.

Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences provides an excellent opportunity for young and motivated researchers to pursue a career in basic and applied Life Science research. DIPAS endeavors in optimizing human performance under extreme operational environments using physiological, biochemical, nutritional and ergonomic approach. The departments are equipped with state-of-art facilities to conduct human studies, animal and in-vitro experimentation with an interdisciplinary approach.

Applications are invited for following purely temporary posts (likely to continue for three years and subject to change without any prior information) in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, sponsored research project entitled, Development of primary human microglial/astrocyte cell-based model for neurodegenerative diseases under Principal Investigator Prof. Shailendra Saxena, Stem Cell/Cell Culture Lab, Dept. of Centre for Advanced Research (CFAR), KGMU, Lucknow.

The Tata Memorial Centre is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre with a mission to achieve the highest standards in patient care, cancer prevention, cancer research and professional development for oncology and allied disciplines. TMC is an autonomous body funded, controlled by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. TMC is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

Tata Memorial Centre is an autonomous grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy. TMC is comprised of the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) and the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). ACTREC conducts a Ph.D. program in Life Sciences, affiliated to the Homi Bhabha National Institute (a deemed university under category “A” by MHRD, Govt of India). On-going research at ACTREC includes basic and translational research in Cancer Biology.

The Department of Health Research was created as a new Department under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare vide Presidential notification dated 17th September 2007 by an amendment to the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, with the objective of facilitating a well-functioning health research system in the country. To fulfill its assigned mandate, DHR runs various bio-medical research schemes as well as administers the Indian Council of Medical Research, an autonomous body under DHR.

The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda has been established in 2009 along with other new Central Universities by an Act of Parliament (No 25, of 2009). The University is accredited with A grade from NAAC. The Central University of Punjab is the youngest university that has secured its position in the top 100 institutions (95th Rank) in the University category & 1st amongst New Central Universities in the MHRDs NIRF Ranking 2019. It is credited with highest per capita research funding.
