National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs) at Hyderabad (Telangana) and Hajipur (Bihar) are autonomous institutes of national Importance under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India created by an Act of Parliament. NIPER Hyderabad has been ranked as No. 1st and NIPER Hajipur as No. 44th in the country under ‘Pharmacy’ category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2023 released by the Ministry of Education.

It was established initially as Regional Research Institute (Ay.) in 1979 with the merger of survey of Medicinal Plants Unit (SMPU), Mobile Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) in addition to Community Health Care Research Programme. The Institute was upgraded as Central Research Institute (Ay.) in 1999. The Institute has shifted to its own building in August 2002. As per the notification of CCRAS dated 15th December 2009, the Institute has been re-upgraded in category A and named as National Research Institute for Ayurveda –Siddha Human Resource Development, Gwalior.

Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, KAPL Bengaluru is a Government of India Enterprise. Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited is a Joint Sector Company of Government of India with shareholding from Government of Karnataka through Karnataka State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation KSIIDC. The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology is an autonomous national institute of the Government of India, Ministry for Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology. The office of the Assam Pharmacy council is situated at Pharmacy Bhawan, Hengrabari, Guwahati, Pin - 781036 (Assam), in the campus of Director of Health Services, Assam. Assam Pharmacy Council is a statutory body constituted by the Government of Assam under the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948 to regulate the profession and practice of Pharmacy in the State of Assam.

The National Center for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR), Bengaluru is one of its kind of unique institution which utilizes information science for health research as its integral component.
