In October 1990 the B. V. Patel Education Trust in conjuncture with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association established B. V. Patel Pharmaceutical Education & Research Development (PERD) Centre, in the memory of late Mr. B. V. Patel, the first Drug Controller of Gujarat.
Started with the express aim of providing the Pharmaceutical industry and academia the opportunity and resources to undertake the latest in research and development, PERD Centre is India's first multidisciplinary, postgraduate research institute, promoting advanced research, services and training in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

The Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy (VMCP), Salem, established in the year 1982 is the pioneer institution of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. It plays a vital role in the field of Pharmacy education and caters to the needs of society by meeting the ever-increasing demand for pharmacists in India and abroad. The college that started with the Diploma in Pharmacy program now also offers B.Pharm (from 1993), M.Pharm (from 2003) in 5 specializations, Pharm.D, Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) (from 2009) and the Doctoral Program in Pharmacy (from 2004). The college is a constituent college of Vinayaka Missions University, Salem and is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi. Several hundreds of students have graduated from the college successfully and are practicing the profession of Pharmacy across the globe and serving the community at large.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER) is an Institute of National importance established by an Act of Parliament under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals,Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute has excellent facilities for advanced education and research in pharmaceutical sciences and is looking for teaching and non- teaching staff of high degree of knowledge and willing to contribute in building this institute as one of the best centres of excellence. Presently the Institute is running M.S (Pharm.) and Ph.D Programmes and planning to expand further.

Realizing the increasing importance of Pharmacy as a profession Sri.Y.V.Anjaneyulu, Chairman of Chalapathi Educational Society with his futuristic vision established Chalapathi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CIPS) at Lam in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. It is located at about 8 K.M. from Guntur Town towards Amaravathi.  Guntur is well connected by bus or train from Vijayawada (40 min), Hyderabad (4.30 hrs.) and Chennai (7 hrs.) and is on the N.H.-5 connecting Chennai and Calcutta. Pleanty of local transport is arrived from Guntur town to the college campus.
