(21st October, 2014; Business Wire India); GVK Biosciences (GVK BIO) – Asia’s leading integrated Discovery Research and Development organization today announced the successful completion of in-silico based alternative indications of shelved compounds for Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited using GVK BIO’s proprietary Drug Repurposing Platform. Biomedical engineering researchers have developed a drug delivery system consisting of nanoscale “cocoons” made of DNA that target cancer cells and trick the cells into absorbing the cocoon before unleashing anticancer drugs. The work was done by researchers at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
