Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) is announced the appointment of Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director of Biocon Limited, as the Chairperson of its Board of Governors. She takes over from Mr. Mukesh D Ambani and became the first woman Chairperson of any IIM Board.
The meeting of Board of Governors of IIM-B was held on feb 11, 2014 where the Chairperson, Mr. Ambani, advised the Board of his decision to step down and accordingly the board appointed Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw as the Chairperson of the IIM-B Board from February 11, 2014 onwards. She has been a member of the IIM-B Board for the past several years.
Mr. Ambani thanked the Board of Governors, the faculty, the staff, the alumni and the students of IIM-B for all support and their efforts in making IIM-B as a world-class institution.
