PHD Chamber in association with Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India and Department of AYUSH, State Govt. of Tamil Nadu inaugurated 3 day Conference cum Exhibition on 13th December 2019 at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Kanakavali, Director General, Central Council for Research in Siddha, Chennai, Padmashree Dr. P.R. Krishna Kumar, CMD, Arya Viadya Pharmacy, Mr. E. V. Shiril, Chairman-Kerala Chapter, PHD Chamber and Mr. Vivek Seigell, Principal Director, PHD Chamber.

Padamshree Dr. P.R. Krishna Kumar, CMD, Arya Viadya Pharmacy talked about Ayurveda system of medicine. Dr. Krishna appreciated the efforts of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, PHD Chamber and State Govt. of Tamil Nadu for jointly organizing Arogya Fair in Coimbatore.

Mr. E. V. Shiril, Chairman-Kerala Chapter, PHD Chamber said that Ayurveda or ayurvedic medicines are one of the oldest forms of treatment which traces its origin to India. In ancient times, this form of medicine was largely practised by vaidyas, the equivalent of modern-day doctors. The traditional medicines such as unani, siddha and homeopathy too were commonly practised in the past years.

Mr. Shril also shared the figures by WHO that 80% of the people in Asian and African countries use traditional medicines as their primary medical aid. India’s wellness market is estimated at INR 490 Billion, and wellness services alone comprise 40% of the total market. He expressed that AYUSH industry has the potential to contribute positively to national health programme by providing traditionally and historically proven healthcare solutions and the potential of alternative therapies and practitioners to alleviate the human resource crisis in Indian healthcare is indeed enormous.
Thiru S. Ganesh, IAS, Director, Indian Medicine and Homeopathy, Government of Tamil Nadu thanked and appreciated initiated by Ministry of AYUSH. Govt. of India and PHD Chamber for organizing Arogya Fair at Coimbatore. He said State Govt. of Tamil Nadu is also keen in promoting the entire AYUSH System.

Dr. K. Kanakavali, Director General, Central Council for Research in Siddha spoke about the current recognition of Sidda and said council is constantly working on enhancement of the quality of research for developing drugs with quality, safety and efficacy through well-established preclinical and clinical research facilities, Also towards the scientific validation of Siddha System of Medicine through clinical research, drug research, medicinal plants research etc and other research areas.

There were 53 Exhibitors of manufacturers of AYUSH Systems of medicine out of which 38 were private exhibitors and 15 stalls were for the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu where the State Government conducted the free OPDs, Free Medicine Distribution and various therapies. In AYUSH Pavilion Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) and Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), National Medicinal Plant Board(NMPB) represented the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. A stall of Sowa Rigpa- the Tibetan traditional system of Medicine which has been bought under Ayurveda, also displayed their system of medicine and conducted free OPDs.

OPD Consultations of AYUSH system and medicine distribution were conducted by National Industry players like Sri Sri Tattva, Vestige Marketing, Sandu Pharmaceutical and many more also displayed at the Arogya Fair.

The overall footfall was around 15,000 in 3 days at State Arogya Fair at Coimbatore. There were total 3432 free OPDs were conducted during three days out of which there were 348 OPDs on first day, 1146 OPDs on second day and 1938 OPDs on third day.

The Inaugural session of AROGYA Fair was attended by Govt. Officials from State Govt. of Tamil Nadu and different Councils of Indian Medicine like CCRAS (Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences), CCRH (Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy), CCRUM (Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine), CCRS (Central Council for Research in Siddha), Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy, and NMPB (National Medicinal Plants Board), exhibitors from the AYUSH Industry, Medical Practitioners of AYUSH System, Researchers, Yoga Experts, Reputed Hospitals, colleges students and PG Scholars.

LECTURE SESSIONS AT AROGYA FAIR:
Multiple lectures were organised during 3 days AROGYA Fair and the topics of the sessions were Siddha Lifestyle,  Surgical Procedures in Ayurveda, Classical Regimental Unani Therapy, Homeopathy and its specialties, Yoga and Naturopathy for Healthy Life, Fundamental of Unani Medicine,  Leading Healthy Life Through Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy for Healthy Life and Efficiency of Homeopathy in Skin Diseases.
