Pharm.D doctors and interns may join in the fight against COVID-19 (corona virus) in Karnataka reported by Karnataka State PharmD Doctors Association (KSPDA) to PharmaTutor

Dr Gopinatha K, KSPDA President, Karnataka contacted B. Sriramulu, health minister of Karnataka through email regarding utilization of Pharm.D Doctors and Interns in the fight against pandemic COVID-19 / CORONA VIRUS.

As per Dr Gopinath, Pharma-D Doctors who are qualified the 6 years clinical oriented course including 1 year Internship (House surgeon) in a tertiary care hospital along with clinicians. Since they studied all the subjects of MBBS and MD Pharmacology like Pharmacotherapeutics (General Medicine), Community Pharmacy (Medicine), Clinical Toxicology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Clinical Research, Epidemiology etc. except Surgery and they have been undergone clinical training in all the major department (General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Community Medicine, Pediatrics, OBG, Orthopedics, Dermatology, General Surgery, Psychiatry etc.) during their Internship (House surgeon).

 

As per Dr. Gopinath, he had received telephonic confirmation from health minister of Karnataka but any written or draft notification is not received on same.

Dr. Gopinath futher said, "I am assured that Pharm.D doctors will give best service to the community and help government of Karnataka to fight against COVID19 since we have been studied and worked in tertiary care hospitals."
