Eminence Business Media’s “2nd Annual Pharma Project & Portfolio Management Summit 2019” concluded on February 21st & 22nd, 2019 at Hotel Orchid, Mumbai. The theme of the summit was Bringing ‘Vision’ to your projects: Strategizing Innovation from Lab to Launch. The summit was an outstanding success with 90+ delegates attending the conference with Labindia Analytical Instruments Pvt. Ltd., Pharma Mantra & Global Awards and Rewards partnering the event.

The two-day summit ensured the continuous engagement of the audience, speakers and exhibitors through networking activities and discussions with regards to the ever–evolving challenges of the pharmaceutical project & portfolio management teams and how to overcome those challenges.

The summit saw as many as 14 sessions & a panel discussion over the two days, attended by the CEO’s, MD’s, Project Management Heads, Portfolio Management Heads, Product/Project/ Portfolio Managers, Quality Assurance / Quality Control managers, Supply Chain Managers of the pharmaceutical & biopharmaceutical manufacturing companies.

The day started with Ms. Guneet Kaur Hayer, Managing Director, Eminence Business Media paying a tribute to the martyrs of the Phulwama Attack which took place on 14th February, 2019. She also spoke about Eminence Business Media’s Vision on Pharma Project & Portfolio Management.

The event was inaugurated with the opening remarks by the chairperson Mr. John Robert– Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in the presence of various eminent personalities from the Pharma Industry. He spoke about building a project strategy which embarks a new dawn for Pharma Project & Portfolio Management. The opening remarks were followed by the presentation on Project Management Strategies revolutionizing the construction space by Mr. Gautam Balakrishnan, Vice President – Smart Cities Business, Tata Projects Ltd. The other presentations on day one included: Projects @ Relay Race by Mr. John Robert, AVP Project Management, Sun Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; Situational Project Management: Ace or Avoid by Mr. Afsar Shaikh, Director PMO, Cipla; Project Management – Effective Quality Role for robust product development by Dr. Udaykumar Rakibe, Founder, PharmaMantra; Optimizing outsourcing project management practices & refining the Techniques by Mr. Bishnu Bibha Mohanty, Head Project Management, Hetero Drugs; Excelling Project Management performance through contemporary Human Resource Management by Dr. Pranab Haldar, Associate Director Project Management, Dr. Reddy’s; Various Avatars of Project Leaders – Skills & Dealing with Situations by Mr. Jayesh Khatri, Sr. GM Project Management, Enaltec Labs.

Day one also witnessed a panel discussion on “The science & art of developing a MASTERPLAN” with panel members including Mr. S.G. Belapure, Former Managing Director, Zydus Hospira Oncology; Dr. Ashok Kumar, President Centre for R&D, IPCA; Dr. Udaykumar Rakibe, Founder, PharmaMantra; Mr. Makrand Kulkarni, Head PMO, Sanofi; Mr. Bishnu Bibha Mohanty, Head Project Management, Hetero Drugs; Dr. Ujwala Salvi, Founder & CEO, Nucleon Therapeutics & Mr. Shib Pramanik, Director & Regional Head – Strategic R&D Project Portfolio, Abbott as the panel moderator. A special Campfire Discussion which included the audience discussion on ‘Evolving Role of Project Managers in successful Project Implementation’ was also arranged with Ms. Jamila Joseph, SVP & Head, Innovative Technologies & Clinical Research, Reliance Life-Sciences & Dr. Laila Fatima, Associate Director, Dr. Reddy’s as the session leaders.

The sessions on day two included: Cost Sensitivity & its impact on competitive pricings of portfolio teams by Dr. Roshan Palewar, CEO, DocRosh Health; Concerns regarding the FDA 21 CFR Part 11 on Dissolution Testing by Mr. Sandip Warekar, Sr GM – R&D, Labindia Analytical Instruments; Clinical Trails & Project Management by Mr. Ravi Gaware, Head Project Management Clinical Operations, Boehringer Ingelheim; Risk Management in clinical research by Dr. Deepa Arora, VP Pharmacovigilence & Global Head Drug Safety & Risk Management, Lupin; Project Governance: Managing a dynamic product portfolio by Mr. Mike Teiler, Principal Consultant, Pharma Portfolio Management Consultants & Assessing Operations of Portfolio Management to improve efficiency by Mr. Taranpreet Singh Lamba, VP Intellectual Property & Global Product Portfolio, Glenmark.

Day two of the summit also witnessed the official launch of Mr. John Robert’s book “Leadership Journey of a Project Manager” by Mr. Sandeep Gupta, Vice Chairman Nutraceuticals, IDMA followed by Mr. John Robert signing the book and handing over a copy of the same to all the delegates. A very interesting session on Building an Action Plan: ‘Finding Solutions to the Challenges’ was also arranged on day two where the delegates had to build an action plan for a specific challenge provided to them by the session leaders - Mr. Mike Teiler, Principal Consultant, Pharma Portfolio Management Consultants; Dr. Udaykumar Rakibe, Founder PharmaMantra & Dr. Archana Badhwar, Associate Director Project Management NDDS India Market & PMO, Cipla.

Eminence Business Media paid a tribute to the martyrs of the Phulwama Attack by organizing a special dance performance on day two of the summit.

The summit was concluded with the closing remarks by the Chairperson, Mr. John Robert followed by a group photo of the delegates attending the summit.
