53rd National Pharmacy Week Celebration 2014 at Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy, Udaipur

(28th November, 2014); The third week of November is celebrated all over the country by pharmacists with pride ensuring pharmaceutical services in the country to be the best to meet the healthcare needs of the people. Also, it provides an opportunity for pharmacy professionals to make the general public awareness about the profession in providing healthcare services, as compared with other medical and related profession.

Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy (GIP), Geetanjali University, Manwa Khera, Udaipur, organized various events like literary competition (Poetry writing and Recitation, Hand Writing, Debate, Collage making, Ad-Mad, Best out of Waste, Pharma Quiz, Just a Minute, Master Chef, Card Making/ Pot decoration & Poster Making); cultural (song/dance competition, drama & fashion show); sports activities (Cricket, Short put, Carom & Chess) and other including general awareness rally and also scientific session (guest lectures) to celebrate the 53rd National Pharmacy Week (NPW). The program was inaugurated on 17th November, 2014 by lighting the traditional lamp by the Mr. Bhupendra Mandlia, Registrar, Geetanjali University, Udaipur followed by Saraswati vandana. Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Dashora, Dean of GIP, while expressing to the chief guest for gracing the occasion and express the importance of the theme.

A scientific lecture on November 21, 2014 on “QSAR and Its application in the field of pharmacy” was delivered by Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Geetanjali Institute of Pharmacy (GIP), Geetanjali University, Manwa Khera, Udaipur who enlightened the gathering about drug discovery, viz. preclinical, clinical (Phase I, II, III) & post marketing FDA approval/ toxicity/pre-formulation & formulation studies.

Followed by, the celebrations ended with a free medical and Blood group detection camps. About 365 volunteers detected their blood groups; while drugs like antimalarials, antibiotics and general medicines donated to the needy, on the occasion.

On the occasion of valedictory function i.e. 23rd November, 2014 was held at Narmada Devi Auditorium, where dignitaries from academia, government and industry graced the occasion. Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Dashora inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp and gave the welcome address. The chief guest of the event was Girdhari Lal Garg, Project Officer, Department of Science and Technology, Kota. He imparted knowledge about the importance of pharmacist in the society.

Mr. Rajeev Pandya, GM (HR), Geetanjali University high lightened the need and importance of pharmacist in the development of a healthy nation. Various prizes were then distributed to the winners of different activities conducted during the week and academic performance during the year. Finally program coordinator Ms. Udichi Kataria gave the sincere thanks and advised to the student for their dedication and hard work in order to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process.
