Applications Invited at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology for Award of Junior Research Fellowships

After independence, development of the rural sector was considered the primary concern of the Government of India. In 1949, with the appointment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission, imparting of agricultural education through the setting up of rural universities became the focal point. Later, in 1954 an Indo-American team led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, was constituted that arrived at the idea of establishing a ‘Rural University’ on the land-grant pattern of USA. As a consequence a contract between the Government of India, the Technical Cooperation Mission and some land-grant universities of USA, was signed to promote agricultural education in the country. The US universities included the universities of Tennessee, the Ohio State University, the Kansas State University, The University of Illinois, the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Missouri.

Applications are invited for the award of one Junior Research Fellowships on a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 12000/- pm., in the project entitled “Identification of key genes and enzymes of secondary metabolic pathways in aromatic rice genotype responsible for biogenesis of aroma compounds” for six months or till the date of completion of the project, whichever is earlier.

Applicants possessing M. Sc. Degree in Biochemistry/ Molecular biology & Biotechnology/ Biotechnology may submit their application on plain paper/via e-mail (anilgaur123@rediffmail.com) in the following format to the Principal Investigator, Department of Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering latest by 20.10.11 up to 10.00 A.M.

The experience in the field of molecular biology, biochemical analysis, analysis of volatile compounds on Gas chromatography system will be considered as desirable qualification.

Candidates fulfilling the qualification should appear for the interview on October 20.10.11 (Thursday) at 11.00 A.M. in the office of the undersigned.


No separate letter for interview will be issued or any TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
