Beatson, as one of Cancer Research UK’s core-funded institutes, carry out a programme of world-class science directed at understanding key aspects of cancer cell behaviour, and try to translate these discoveries into new therapies and diagnostic/prognostic tools to help cancer patients. The Institute benefits from close interactions with the University of Glasgow, including strong links with the University’s Institute of Cancer Sciences.

Post: Post Doctoral Fellowship

We currently have a postdoctoral position to study the metabolic transformation of cancer. The aim of the project is to understand the metabolic rewiring of cancer cells which are critical for the pathology of human cancers. The project will focus on metabolomic analysis of cancer cells following pharmacologic and genetic perturbations of the cells’ metabolic network. You will be part of a team of biologists, chemists and system biologists working together to identify key enzymes required for metabolic adaptation of cancer cells.

Starting Salary from £25.5 – £38K pa (depending on experience). 3-5 year fixed term contract.


You must have a relevant PhD and should have a strong background in cell biology and biochemistry. A proven ability of performing independent creative research and a pro-active attitude are required. Experience in cancer biology would be an advantage.
