The challenges of information management, integration, mining and interpretation are significant across all phases of pharmaceutical R&D pipeline and even more so in a global organization such as AstraZeneca. AstraZeneca India offers an integrated approach to the discovery, development and marketing of medicines focused on infectious diseases.
A key goal of the newly formed Head of R&D Informatics role is to capitalize on regional informatics solution delivery markets and develop the skills and tools needed to address these challenges as part of AstraZeneca’s global informatics strategy. At a high level, the objective of this strategy is to enhance R&D productivity and decision making by improving scientific and commercial information and knowledge management and providing high quality informatics solutions that benefit from regional commercial and academic partnerships and expertise. This includes the support of strategic investments in the areas of external surveillance, outsourcing and resource management, scientific portfolio knowledge management, data driven modeling and simulation, predictive science, personalized healthcare, clinical trial design & interpretation and the use of health economics and outcomes research in drug R&D.
This position will be the site leadership for RDI in Bangalore, India reporting to the Global Head of R&D Informatics and Information Sciences and operate under the guidance of the regional iMed leadership. The role requires significant leadership experience in the delivery of informatics solutions with clear scientific perspectives and the ability to develop a strategic plan for comprehensive project support by utilizing regional and global informatics capabilities and contribute to the global RDI portfolio. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead informatics teams as well as major informatics initiatives by building up local expertise and cultivate strong relationships with informatics solutions vendors and suppliers and have a good understanding of the key players in the regional market.
